I had a problem years ago with diet pills and anorexia, (take a look at the pictures in the About Kitty tab and go to the first post in that section). I was always thin 130 lbs, until age 26 years when a really bad relationship that it's toll. You see if you suffer from depression what you might not realize is that your body is releasing a brain chemical called dopamine and it will cause your metabolism to slow down. With any form of depression with out awareness or proper help most people in this condition will turn to self medication through drugs, alcohol, food, permiscuous behavior. Because I grew up in a southern home and was use to huge portion size, my drug of choice became food. In that 4 year live in relationship I went from 130 lbs to 220 lbs. I had an experience where I gave my life to Jesus on the street it changed my life (read bio below end of site). First thing I did was to break up with the fella and ask him to move out. A few weeks later I was lead to visit a church I saw on TV and they were just about to start a 21 day fast. There were rules either do a full fast liquids only or a daniel fast vegetables and water (don't do it if your doctor says no ...of course). Me, I was like I can do the full fast. It was great at first i blended raw vegetables and only drank water (This is the healthy way to fast). In the 21 days I lost 25 lbs (that's my body). So then I said why not go 40 days. I was in the grocery store and saw Betatrim with Ephedra for $7, guaranteed to speed up metabolism THIS IS WHERE I GOT OFF TRACK AND STARTED DOING THE UNHEALTHY THINGS I bought a few bottles and stopped drinking the vegetable smoothies. I saw instead of loosing 1 lb a day I was loosing 2 lbs a day...instead of going 40 days I went 60 days and got to 120 lbs I was skinner than I had ever been, I was high school weight. I was happy with the results, in my mind though I could still loose more weight. Yes it got ridiculous and instead of taking the prescribed # of pills like 1 pill 3 times a day i was taking 2 pills 3 times a day. Not eating , I loose feeling in my arms and hands many times (mini stroke and indication of heart attack), no exercising cause the rush would cause me to pass out, I was having dizzy spells, every thing would turn black. One day I was walking up some stairs and almost passed all I found it hard to breath. I realized at that moment I was not doing #1 which was to take care of my temple as God commanded, I found myself laying there, eyes wide open and couldn't see anything but blackness saying a quick prayer, Help Me Breathe Lord. Immediately I could. Thank God my life was spared.
Since then years passed and I became pregnant I gained 120 lbs during my pregnancy starting at 170 lbs. I had gestational diabetes and suffered edema. My daughter was born in perfect health thank God. I'm currently 215-220 lbs fluctuation. In January I'm going to do a spiritual fast for 40 days with my neighbor, a full fast of vegetable juices and water, this time i will do it the right way. Now with an altered system my body is not dealing with the weight gain with stride, instead I've been having major complications including pre-diabetes, neck pains and swelling legs. Though most people say I don't look like I weight that much cause I'm tall (5'8 1/2) but I do and weight is weight and does the same on my body as it would anyone else. Plus I have a tall for her age 2 year old about 35 lbs that wants me to carry her everywhere. So my knees...ouch. It's time to get this weight off and I will but this time the right way and the healthy way. When I come closer to doing the 40 day spiritual fast I post what I'm taking and my exercise and weight loss. THE HEALTHY WAY! cause I do believe in fasting spiritually and medically. Medically any doctor will say Americans should fast 2 days out the week to give our systems a break from all the junk (non organic= slow killing preservatives) we eat. I'll still need prayer cause my biggest battle is food addiction it's self (you know when your eating when your not hungry or eat when stressed).
