Drug Den Shambassy Closed AGAIN!

Popular Disco bar in Taguig closed anew

By JEAN FERNANDO

The Taguig City government ordered Friday the immediate closure of a popular disco bar at the Bonifacio Global City, following the stabbing and serious wounding of a customer by a club habitué and the alleged escape of the suspect in connivance with three employees.

Taguig City Business Permits and Licenses Office head Jeff Minglana said the Embassy Super Club and Embassy Cuisine at the Fort Strip will remain closed “until such time that a full investigation on the incident by proper authorities is conducted and completed.”

Minglana said he was directed by Mayor Sigfrido Tinga to serve the closure order on the club based on the complaint of the stabbing victim.

Minglana said the stabbing happened in the premises of Embassy Cuisine at about 1:30 a.m. last Tuesday, Aug. 18. The alleged connivance between the bouncers and the suspect reportedly facilitated the escape of the assailant.

Taguig police chief, Sr. Supt. Camilo Cascolan, said the victim was a 34-year-old businessman whose name was withheld for security reasons. His alleged attacker was identified as a certain “Kilikan Jimenez.”

Cascolan said that before the stabbing, a friend of the businessman reportedly figured in a quarrel with Jimenez.

In the ensuing confrontation, Jimenez allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, hitting him in the body and back.

The bouncers reportedly took the victim out of the establishment through the front door. Taguig policemen who were stationed outside the establishment took him to the Makati Medical Center where he had to undergo operation.

Gilbey Gallart Loganera, investigating security officer of the Bonifacio Estate Services Corp., said accounts given by security men detailed in the area pointed to Embassy bouncers Gilbert Rempis, Joven Bantique, and Gilbert Battung as the ones who facilitated the escape of Jimenez through the club’s back door.

Cascolan said policemen from the Police Community Precinct 7, which has jurisdiction over the area, were allowed to stay only outside Embassy’s premises.

UPDATE!!

(8:21 a.m., August 24)

SPOT.ph just received the Official Statement of Embassy Cuisine from co-owner and PR Tim Yap denying earlier reports that their bouncers connived to facilitate the escape of the suspect Kilikan Jimenez through their back door:

“An untoward incident involving certain patrons of EMBASSY CUISINE which occurred last 18 August 2009 is currently being investigated by officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Taguig City.

Contrary to certain allegations which have been published and reported in media, the management of, and security personnel engaged by, Cuisine did not allow, assist in, facilitate nor condone the immediate departure from the premises of any of the parties involved in the incident. In the said incident, the management and security personnel of Cuisine faithfully observed and implemented the proper security procedure, immediately sought the assistance of the PNP officers assigned to the area, and promptly endorsed the matter and parties involved to the PNP officers for the taking of appropriate legal action. The management of Cuisine did not and will not tolerate the evasion by any party of legal liability, and is presently extending its full cooperation to the PNP-Taguig City in the latter’s investigation of the incident.

The management of Cuisine wishes to assure its patrons that it remains committed to providing them an entertainment venue where their safety and enjoyment are of the utmost importance.”

Embassy Cuisine and Superclub closed down by Taguig local government indefinitely
(Updated 8:58 p.m., first posted at 1:24 a.m on August 21):
Both Embassy Cuisine and Embassy Superclub were closed indefinitely by the local government of Taguig City due to a stabbing incident that occurred last Tuesday, reports the Inquirer.net.

The Inquirer reports that a patron named Kilikan Jimenez allegedly stabbed 34-year-old businessman Dennis Navarro II with a bladed weapon at Embassy Cuisine past 1 a.m. on August 18. The victim, said to have mediated during a fight between his friend and Jimenez, was wounded on his right side and back and was rushed by Embassy security personnel to Makati Medical Center where he underwent an operation.

Herbal Chicken

I think I'm lazy when it comes to cooking. I'll use pre-made sauces or ready ingredients to make my dishes taste nice... Is it a crime???

Anyway, here's the recipe..

Ingredients:
Whole chicken
Packet herbs for chicken soup

Method:
Dunk everything in a bowl lined with aluminium foil. Make sure that the inner part of the chicken is filled with the herb too.

Steam the chicken for about 30 minutes using medium fire. Serve warm.

This dish took me 4 days to finish. Its so worth it and it only cost £4 and its absolutely yummy. The sauce is so sweet with the chicken essence and not to mention that its kinda healthy. I absolutely love it. Succulent meat with slurpy chicken stock, one word, HEAVEN.

Nah, another picture. Serve best with some soy sauce.

I really wanna apologize to my parents and my sister for not keeping them well informed about my daily activities and the problems that I had faced alone here in UK. I'm so sorry for being selfish and keeping all the grueling sorrows to myself and to my blog/Facebook, and didn't really give a 2nd thought about sharing them with you. And I'm sorry that you have to receive news from relatives about my well-being and not from me. I have to train myself though, to express myself verbally through the phone, and I need a lot of time to practice that as I'm not good with talking about my problems to you. My blog/Facebook is the only outlet that I could write freely without having the feeling of being judged and our relatives does read my blog and news of Cin Khor are transmitted through that mean.
********************************************************************************
I really don't know how to share my problems/sadness with you, pa, ma, I just need to get accustomed to letting it all out on the phone, do I??? I promise I'll call tomorrow, but I do think its gonna be a bit stressful, trying to find words and put through my mouth and voicing my unfortunate events. But what I do know is that I'm really lucky to have you, pa, ma, ling, and pek yee as my closest kin who really care about me and hope that I could live a better life here.

I love you, pa, ma, ling, pek yee as well as thanks to all my relatives and friends who read this blog and follow my updated statues in Facebook.

Oh Shit!! I Forgot To Wash My Laundry

And I'm gonna wear my un-washed uniform to work tomorrow, **sigh**, gotta spray on more Lacoste perfume to cover any unpleasant smell.

And I'm blaming the long lunchie and chit chatting with my friends this afternoon.

Don't even get me started on my un-vacuum room and un-trim nails as well as un-scrub face.

And I know, my blog is getting boring every minute... Losing readers here...

Great Moments in Bad Cover Artwork

Inspired by the hideousness that is Lionsgate's cover for John Huston's The Dead, I've been tempted to possibly start a new feature on the blog which will highlight some of the worst DVD covers to surface in the twelve or so years the format has existed. Anyone who has ever worked at a video store or a movie theatre (as I have) could probably spot off at least five awful clichés that plague the world of poster and DVD artwork ("Floating Heads" being the most pervasive, irritating offender). If this does turn into a regular thing on my blog, expect themed posts, such as "Good Films, Bad Covers," "Did you hire your brother to put this together on Microsoft Paint?," "Ethnic Girl Shrugging Her Shoulders," "Offensive Photoshopping," "From Asia, With Love," "Just Because Julia Roberts' Head on a Model's Body Worked on the Poster for Pretty Woman Doesn't Mean It Does Here," as well as a few tributes to the studios who've consistently released ugly covers (Lionsgate, Sony, Koch Lorber, The Weinstein Company/Miramax) and to the gay direct-to-DVD market, who've never ceased to amaze me with their contributions to bad package art. So here are 10 dreadful examples of DVD cover "magic."

1. Repulsion, d. Roman Polanski, Koch Vision, as part of their "Cinema Sirens" Collection, 2001

Probably the most notorious of Koch's "Cinema Sirens" series, which also includes some former public domain flicks starring Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale, Ava Gardner, Jayne Mansfield, Elizabeth Taylor and Brigitte Bardot. With a simple cut and paste, Koch rendered Roman Polanski's terrifying, claustrophobic nightmare into a bargain-bin clunker. One of the worst parts about this cover is that they obviously recognized that what they were releasing was a quality motion picture ("Roman Polanski's psychological masterpiece"), but unfortunately the best way to sell it was with Catherine Deneuve's head on a blurry, purple with polka-dot bikini with matching towel(?) and high heels. Remember that great scene on the beach in Repulsion? Neither do I, but as any fashionable woman knows, never break out the bathing suit without your matching heels.

2. Beatific Vision, d. Sountru, Ariztical Entertainment, 2009

Oh boy! Keep in mind that Ariztical, who specialize in no-budget, nudity-filled gay flicks with the exception of the unfortunately popular Eating Out series and a pair of exceptional films from Tennessee-based filmmaker Morgan Jon Fox, has released Beatific Vision with two different covers: "Mainstream Art" (for Blockbuster, I'd assume) and "Alternative Art" (for the online buyers). What you see above is the "Mainstream Art" (the "Alternative Art" has a pair of male lovers locked in embrace with a sliver of an ass crack), and it is certainly the preferable of the two. The floating image is featured on both covers, but this version really caters to a tamer crowd, who enjoy wearing scarves that match Catherine Deneuve's bathing suit and dressing their pug in leather harnesses. If you were wondering what sort of people were still keeping Blockbuster in business, look no further.

3. Don Juan, d. Jacques Weber, Koch Lorber, 2005

It would seem a difficult task to make an aesthetically displeasing cover when you have Penélope Cruz and Emmanuelle Béart in period attire to work with, but leave it to Koch Lorber to prove me wrong. There's a storm brewing on the beach as Don Juan, played by the director, rides his horse across the tide, but as we all know, Ms. Cruz's beauty can part the most treacherous of cloud formations for the sun to shine upon her. Sadly, Ms. Béart's looks do not have the same powers. Both actresses' eyes are drawn outside of the frame, which would make sense as there's nothing striking going on inside of it, but I get the feeling Cruz's disheveled dress is revealing a little more than just her bare shoulders. Just look at the way Béart gazes downward, lips pouted and hair tussled. As if we needed any indication that what we want to be looking at can't be found in this cover.

4. Federal Protection, d. Anthony Hickox, Lions Gate, 2002

Hello, sexy! Glamourous girls with guns has always been an eye-catcher, but none have gotten my attention as strikingly as the headless, diamond-neckless-wearing lady in Federal Protection. Was this cocktail dress a part of Alexander McQueen's fall collection? I would die and go to fashion heaven if I ever saw Victoria Beckham in this number. With his lips puckered just a little bit and his hair slicked back, Armand Assante's face will be the wave of haute couture fashion, mark my words.

5. Poker in Bed [La signora gioca bene a scopa?], d. Giuliano Carnimeo, Televista, 2009

While one can find plenty of reasons to bitch about Televista, a company who issues unauthorized, VHS-to-bootleg-quality versions of Euro flicks, their cover artwork is especially noteworthy. While I typically wouldn't be the person to ask about which of Edwige Fenech's erotic farces are the best, I'd be silly not to at least mention Poker in Bed, which, if we're going by the cover, features a naughty scene in which Fenech wins the game with her Royal-Flush-from-between-the-legs trick. I also had no idea the Algerian-born actress was blessed with upside-down heart-shaped nipples, and that alone makes Poker in Bed a must-have!

6. Spooky House, d. William Sachs, Studio Works, 2003

Another possible theme for bad covers: Slumming Actors. Featuring not one, but two Oscar winners (Ben Kingsley and Mercedes Ruehl), Spooky House could never be mistaken for simply a bad DVD cover; it is refreshingly honest about everything you need to know about the film. Check out VideoDetective to see the official trailer and marvel at the accuracy in which the cover flaunts its state-of-the-art visual effects. If The Pagemaster was too animated for all you Ben Kingsley fans, Spooky House is the film for you. Side note: Someone needs to teach me how to rip scenes from movies off DVDs, because I searched far and wide, with no avail, for a clip of the theme song that was composed for this gem's title sequence.

7. Partner(s), d. Dave Diamond, Lions Gate, 2005

There's not much more to say about the cover for Partner(s). Just look at that photoshopping! Do you think Michael Ian Black is playing a homosexual? If a picture tells a thousand words, this one lays out the entire screenplay. Why would you even need to rent it? Is it just a coincidence that the film sort of shares a title with one of Hollywood's most notoriously homophobic ventures, which also has winning package art?

8. The Lost Steps [Los pasos perdidos], d. Manane Rodríguez, Agua Verde Audio Visual/TLA Releasing

This might be acceptable for the cover for a slideshow your cousin made for his parents' 50th anniversary, but not for anything else. In fact, I may even compliment your cousin if his skills had advanced to this level, but for a movie studio of any level, this shouldn't even suffice for the cover sheet of a press kit.

9. Five, d. Arch Oboler, Sony Pictures, as part of their Martini Movies, 2009

Thanks a lot Seven for making every film with a number that could maybe pass as a letter in the title the standard. While every single one of Sony's "Martini Movies" are the victims of heinous packaging, 5ive is my favorite offender. You've got a Mount Rushmore line-up of the actors, a screaming baby in one corner and a skeleton's face appearing in some sort of mushroom cloud explosion in the other. Mad props!

10. Thunderpants, d. Peter Hewitt, The Weinstein Company, 2007

Speechless.

The Decade List: Funny Ha Ha (2002)

Funny Ha Ha - dir. Andrew Bujalski

It's so secret that the state of young American independent filmmaking is in sorry shape. The digital revolution hasn't yielded the surge of artful low-to-no-budget paragons the more optimistic film lovers had hoped. But in every trash heap, there's something of value to be extricated. For me (and many others), Andrew Bujalski's films are the salvageable ones. Lumped alongside young filmmakers of significantly less aptitude, Bujalski captures his generation with a rare skill. His subjects, the alienated lot of twentysomethings, stem from a very American cinematic tradition, one that's already grown tired thanks to some of Bujalski's peers. While his first film, Funny Ha Ha, doesn't reach the heights of his later Mutual Appreciation, it establishes Bujalski's vision in a cogent manner, which reaches further than most young filmmakers' admirable first exertions.

All of the filmmakers associated with the so-called "mumblecore" movement situate their characters within the same concurrent universe, but unlike most of the others (I'm sure you know who I'm specifically referring to), Bujalski is celebratory in the numbing mind state of his post-collegiates, acknowledging the humor of their seemingly overwhelming despair and ennui. In both Funny Ha Ha and Mutual Appreciation, every evening arrives like a box of mystery, laced with the possibility for excitement. In Funny Ha Ha, Marnie (Kate Dollenmayer), a girl both awkward and charming in her own right, stumbles upon a party of some guys she mistakenly thinks are friends of another friend's girlfriend, gets trashed, wakes up miserable and repentant. That misery dissipates because within this world the following day always holds that desirable potential. Watching Bujalski’s films unfold is like a small revelation, finding beauty in the confused path of his characters and allowing their misery to transpire, if only because it makes for brilliant humanity and, sometimes, exquisite comedy.

Need To Get A Life

I literally cried during my working hours, in front of my colleagues, everyone asking me "Are you alright??". I didn't answer, it was too painful to breathe a word, I remain silent, the Cin Khor signature smile vanish from my face, nobody dare to talk to me throughout work time.

I have to admit, I'm too clingy and depend too much Yoong for comfort and love and my life. I need him in every aspects, leaning on my for support and advice, hoping that he could provide me with solutions to my daily routine. This, is starting to kill me.

I became obsessive with controlling Yoong. I want him to be 100% loyal to me unlike he did few years back. I want him to report everything single thing he did to me. I want him to banish his lying and being infidel. I am scared, I have to admit. Waves of frustrations and the annoying nagging of him leaving me ring inside my head. Every single fucking minute, I can't stop thinking of how should I keep him by my side.

I am in the wrong, I know. Love without trust, ain't love anymore. I just try to let him go, let him be his own master, let him do whatever he like, let him be with any gals he wanna hang out with especially his ex. But I fucking can't.... I hate myself for being so childish, enrage with jealousy everytime he tried to contact his ex, but I just can't help it. I really hate him being in touch with his ex. To me, you don't be friends with your ex, they are ex, ex = the past, what does the past got to do with the future??

Everytime I'm so torn between believing Yoong or not. I just somehow can't bring myself to trust him. I love him. A lot. Very much. I should ignore my sense of insecurity and trust Yoong, but there's so much going on in my mind... I wish I could get a sense of truthness from Yoong, I wish Yoong could be more open to me. But the constant guessing game and interrogating procedure is driving me insane. Everytime I have to question deeply then only I got the answer that Yoong is still contacting his ex.

I know, some of you may ask, what's wrong in being friends with the ex. But I still got the feeling that this ex is not giving up on Yoong. I still have the feeling that Yoong is still relying on her to finish some work. I'm jealous. I'm Yoong's girlfriend, I should be the one that he turn to help to. I should be the 1st person that Yoong should think of when he has a problem. But I don't get that often. And I don't like that at all.

I cried today. The 1st time. At work. Wearing the uniform, I did not present my usual "Best Employee of The Year" self. I was like a zombie today. Hoping that time pass by and trying to cover my watery and red eye with my cap. Fail indeed. Customers looking at me like I'm a monster.

I want to get away from this insanity of love. I'd become an alien to myself, turning into this green monster, making Yoong and myself unhappy for all reasons, but the 2 of us really don't know how to communicate with each other, how to tolerate the flaws in each of us.

Maybe the 2 of us really don't have that "magnetic power" to click together. I hate you for making me so fragile. And I hate myself for making you into a weirdo that shunt out your ex and your friends. I hating the current relationship that we are having now.

I'm swaying, in a isolated island, waiting to be rescued, at the mean time, finding ways to get a new life by incorporating some basic survival skills and learning how to sew back my broken heart.

And now, the big question, are you willing to still marry me next year after I force you to swear that you wouldn't contact your ex for 1 year?? Will you still willing to propose to me next year like we had planned??
