Slowly, I'm crawling out of my grim movie-watching blackout, and it's been with surprisingly pleasant results. I bucked up and watched the HBO
Grey Gardens with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange as the imitable Beales thanks to a Facebook recommendation from Bruce LaBruce. And quickly, all of my reservations about the project evaporated quickly.

In addition to
Grey Gardens, I found myself wildly amused by Armando Iannucci's
In the Loop, a viciously hysterical political satire, and the omnibus
Tôkyô!, in particular Leos Carax's middle segment with Denis Lavant. I think the horizon is becoming clearer... let's hope it remains that way.
