Tomorrow morning we'll be attending a pre-disciplinary hearing for "Blackie" at the Offices of the Law Society of Manitoba.
For those unfamiliar the case, under terms of The Legal Profession Act which govern LSM's operations, the name(s) of those accused of wrongdoing (professional misconduct) cannot be divulged until after a finding of guilt subject to a penalty of a possible fine and/or jail sentence.
Compare this with the formal court system which, in most cases, identifies those charged long before trial. The Society is no Queen's Bench nor an Appeals Court. Therefore, we arbitrarily chose the pseudonym "Blackie" based on author Jack Boyle's fictional character Boston Blackie the star of books, radio, films and later television during the 1920s - 1950's - a successful jewel thief and safecracker who, yes, eventually graduated to become a private detective.

The complainants are "Mr. Y" (What a guy that Mr. Y!) and "The Bully" who each filed separate complaints for the same case. Similarly they too cannot be identified just yet otherwise we would - you'd recognize the names.

Several months ago The Society in its infinite wisdom appointed David M. "Dapper" Skwark (FilmoreRiley) to prosecute Blackie.

Stay tuned this case is going to get more and more interesting a la the Jack King disciplinary hearing fiasco.
Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
